Hello. In this post, we'll go over how DF Online Mode's ban system and the DF Discord Server's ban systems work.
(Note: Please do not post your ban appeal in the comments of this post. You should submit your own post in the "Appeals" channel on the DF GameJolt Community!)
DF Online Mode's Ban System
In DF Online Mode, bans are categorized into "Ban Tiers".
If you get banned from the game, your ban will fall under one of these tiers:
Tier 1 (T1) is for offenses that result in a ban of 1 week.
Tier 2 (T2) is for offenses that result in a ban of 1 month.
Tier 3 (T3) is for offenses that result in a permanent ban. However, we accept "appeals" for Tier 3 bans. If you submit a post in our "Appeals" channel to apologize and explain why you should be unbanned, we will give it consideration and you may be unbanned from the game.
Tier 4 (T4) is for offenses that are severe enough that an appeal cannot be accepted for them, resulting in a permanent ban which cannot be undone.
If your ban is not permanent (Tier 1 or Tier 2), you will automatically be allowed be unbanned from the game once your ban period is over. Unless you believe your Tier 1 / Tier 2 ban to be incorrect, we do not accept appeals for temporary bans, so please do not submit an appeal for these tiers. You will need to wait out the length of your ban, and then you can return to the game once the ban has been lifted.
If you repeatedly get Tier 1 or Tier 2 bans, then your ban may be escalated to a Tier 3 ban, even if the offense wasn't categorized as a Tier 3 offense on its own. Please do not repeatedly break the game's rules, or you risk getting permanently banned.
If you wish to appeal a Tier 3 ban, appeals can be submitted in the "Appeals" channel of our GameJolt Community. When we receive an appeal, our moderation team will make the decision to accept or deny the appeal based on the following criteria:
The player's past behavior.
The severity of the player's offense(s).
The tone of the appeal (did the player apologize for their actions, did they seem genuine, etc).
If an appeal is accepted, the player will be unbanned from the game. Depending on how soon their appeal is accepted after they had been banned, their ban length may first be reduced to the correct number of days (7 days for a repeat Tier 1 offense, 30 days for a repeat Tier 2 offense) rather than an instant unban, to ensure they serve the correct amount of time the offense requires.
If an appeal is rejected, the player will not be unbanned from the game. Please note that we do not accept repeat appeals. Repeat appeals should only be filed if the player truly believes that their ban was made in error and has evidence to prove it.
Please note that if you are trying to appeal for an offense of cheating of any form, then you may be asked to accept to your save files being reset as a condition for your unban. If you don't want to risk losing your game progress, we ask that you respect our rules and refrain from cheating so that everyone can have fun.
Finally, we would just like to confirm that getting banned from our official in-game server does not remove your ability to play the upcoming Story Mode, on Private Servers, or over LAN. You will continue to be able to play the rest of the game with no issues, despite being banned from the official server.
DF Discord's Ban System
In our Discord server, members who break the server rules may be given either a "Warning", a "Strike", or a ban. This depends on the severity of the offense.
Typically, first-time offenses (which aren't considered severe) will be met with a "Warning". One of the server admins will send a message in chat or in response to a report to warn the user to stop whatever offense they're doing, and a "Warned" role will be applied to them.
If an offense is a little more severe, or a user has already been "Warned" once before and offends again, then they will receive a "Strike". When a user has the "Striked" role, this means that any further offense afterwards will result in a ban.
If an offense is deemed very severe, or if a user already has a "Strike" and they offend again, then they will be banned from the server.
Typically, we do not accept appeals for bans from the Discord server, unless we can be provided with evidence or a reasonable explanation that makes the ban invalid. If you know your ban was justified, please do not submit an appeal.
Additionally, being banned from the Discord server doesn't always result in being banned from the game too. It's possible to be banned from the Discord server and still be allowed to play the game online, and vice versa.

After submitting an appeal, it may take some time for an admin to respond to it. We sincerely apologize for any long wait times, and we will do our best to respond to you as soon as we can.
Once we have processed your ban appeal, your post will be moved to either the "Approved Appeals" channel if it was accepted, or the "Denied Appeals" channel if it was denied. In the "Denied Appeals" channel, there is a post with more information about what you can do after your appeal is denied.
If you have any further questions about our guidelines, please feel free to respond to this post with them. Thank you for your time.
