The game's been set up so I can write dialogue and a few attributes in a text file, then a hidden game object runs through the file, grabs the necessary data, and puts it in-game!

Turns out adding localized dialogue is easier than I thought

I got this idea from Celeste
It certainly beats drawing face portraits in pixel art cuz it's
A) easier to draw
B) more expressive
C) detailed-er
