Heya pals! I have made quite some progress since the last update, but I am currently working on a video devlog which I planned to release in February, but I'll probably be moving it to April now. I thought it wasn't fair for me to leave y'all with nothing for two months in a row, though this one will be quite mini!
Open Alpha Version
Previously I planned to finish four characters and then release an open beta of the game to the public. But... to be honest, this may take longer than I want it to. My schedule is once again getting busier and busier so things are gonna take longer. So, to remedy this, exciting announcement!
I will be releasing an Open Alpha version before the Open Beta, so y'all can playtest the game while it's in development. This version will release with only TWO characters, and whatever other features are finished at that point.
This won't really be a proper release. I won't make a trailer, and there will be bugs, unfinished features and some huge balance issues. I just wanna make sure people really interested in the game can play something as soon as possible. I can also get even more feedback than I have now and make things ready for the actual Beta release, which will have promotion and polish etc.
No release date yet, I'm on a bit of a dev break right now. But once I'm nearly done with the next character (whose moveset has now been settled on) I'll announce something. This will almost definitely be this year, hopefully by the end of summer :)
Overworld Updates
Over the past month or so I have been working on the overworld section of the game, mainly the hub world. This area is laid out just like the original game, so you can walk around, talk to characters and participate in minigames! there will be loads of shops and activites in this area and I hope to have a lot of fun with it. Here are some sprites!
This part of the game is where story will come in. The game's story has changed alot recently, so if I did reveal any lore dumps before the start of this year basically just completely disregard it. The story and lore are being stripped back massively because I want to simplify that part of the game a lot. There will of course be juicy story stuff to chew on, but it's gonna be more in the background, and a lot more relaxed and perhaps comedic than I planned.
