What is Honorable Fool all about?

I need to take some time to consider the purpose and core gameplay for this title. While its a simple one-month jam title, it still needs core gameplay, and some rewarding content.

Initially I wanted to do a new take on a “Don’t Starve” style mini-survival game. However, I think that the primary component of crafting would be too dense to include in such a quickly-developed game.

Now I’m thinking to do a smaller aspect of that, to prove that gameplay/concept, whereby you need to survive, but have set weapons / skills, and work primarily on the movement techniques and pathfinding needed to make the game reasonably fun to play.

The initial look and feel is going to be like a board game. Characters probably won’t rotate, and I might even get them to bounce along the board, as if someone was counting out moves. This removes the need for animating characters, and simplifies the whole initial idea.

Some concepts I want to include:

  • Turn based

  • Hunger / Food

  • Health

  • Combat

  • Random loot

  • Stamina (limited move distance per turn)

But, I’d be open to any other suggestions. :)
