The neighbor spots you way too quickly and also make it so that you can hide under tables (like HN2). Otherwise I like it lots!
Okay so now that I've played through all of it, I just want to commend you on just how major of an accomplishment this is. This is a genuine campaign and there is so much clever design here that isn't just borrowed from HN2. But more importantly, this GENUINELY feels like a natural evolution of Hello Neighbor's gameplay formula, unlike the watered-down version we ended up getting in HN2. Very focused, and scary too if I may add. Love everything going on here, great work!
How persistent is this soul? 🤔
Finally played through all of it and overall I do enjoy it. I think the first part is pretty fun, visually the house and outside look great and I like the ambience and especially the soundtrack. Second part I personally didn't like that much but I still wanna leave some feedback for the future
-I'd nerf the distance you can put down objects, it's further away than the throw which is silly lol
- The "I" book should be more striking cause even on second and thirrd playthrough I kept missing it.
- Chairs have weird collision, a lot of times when I wanted to grab box that was on a chair and it picked the chair instead.
- good idea with the pop up that some items have multiple uses but it does have one tiny problem of keeping something that you don't need anymore just becuse you THINK you need it. I think something like a little checkmark appearing on an item slot when it's used up would be cool.
- I feel like the second enemy should have an intruduction cutscene or something like that, maybe a buildup or something else cause it does come out of nowhere and it takes me out a bit of the experience
- the mines textures are kinda weird tbh, It doesn't really feel like a mine the textures look more dirt like rather than rock, they also look like bland colors without the lights turrned on. I'd make them more wet and detailed.
- and I also the lighting In the mines feels pretty weird too, I noticed especially during the vent that it looks too bright honestly, it kinda defeats the point of the flashlight. It might be because of the fog I'm not sure but a lot of areas feel like they have lights shining on them from nowhere. I'd definitely make the mines darker.
Overall I still think the game's pretty cool, I didn't mention it but I liked the story (though some of the notes are a bittttt on the nose for my taste) and despite the second part being underwhelming I did hear you guys plan on making updates to the game which is exciting. I wish the team all the best in the future! It's clear this is a passion project made with love for the franchise and It's one of the most unique fangames I've played in a while. I'll make sure to check the game out again if something new drops.
genuinely one of the best fangames ive ever played, only issue i had was the usage of generative ai for voices so i hope you guys change that but other than that its genuinely really good :)

Hello Neighbor: The Persistent Soul (Reboot)
Release version.
Download here and check "README.txt" for additional information.

Hello Neighbor:The Persistent Soul, is a fan-made game based on Hello Neighbor, in which players take on the role of Quentin, a regular resident of Raven Brooks suffering from strange visions and dreams at night.
One day, after watching Mr Peterson unload a suspicious bag from his car, he decides to explore and find out what secrets his neighbor is hiding behind closed doors.

This fangame features brand-new puzzles, original cutscenes, its own storyline, fresh locations, and much more to explore.

Doorbells, glue, bottles… everything around you can become a useful tool as you make your way through your neighbor’s property and attempt to reach the basement.Â

The environment is very interactive, allowing you to distract Mr. Peterson in creative ways, experiment inside his house, tamper with his equipment, and discover new strategies to outsmart him. From interfering with his boiler and radiators to breaking his lawnmower or triggering the sprinkler system, every action adds to a dynamic and immersive gameplay experience.

Getting inside won't be as simple as it seems. Stealth may be your best option. Moving carefully through the house and avoiding noise can help you stay out of Mr. Peterson's sight and reach your goal. But you don't have to play it safe; you can also charge in, take risks, and rely on speed instead. The approach is entirely up to you.

Be careful when dealing with Mr. Peterson ; he is equipped with an adaptive AI that responds to your actions. The more threatened he feels, the more traps he'll place around his house, from bear traps to noise-making alarms, all designed to keep you out and protect what's hidden in his eerie basement. You won't always be able to rely on hiding or escaping, so success depends on how well you balance stealth with bold, decisive moves.
