Review:
A reimagining of the original we all know and love, yet feels different with the familial atmosphere yet haunting ambiance that is a fresh new coating of nightmares. I'm biased but I loved the original Five Nights at Freddy's. It was ahead of its time and still holds up very well till this day. Arguably, it still encompasses the best atmosphere, ambiance, and gameplay in it's horror that still has fans eager to experience that nostalgia.

Locked at Freddy's takes those familiar fundamentals seen in it's story and gameplay but completely revamps it into a new game. While similar it does very unique and attentive details that give it nuance in it's gameplay that is familiar but inherently different. What you thought you once knew, is still there with this preconceived idea but it's the subtly in the gameplay that gives it these subversion of expectations.

Sound design is very integral and a necessity to understand. What comes off as horror and scaring the player, is what becomes your tool in completing each hour until you reach 6am. It's subtle but each animatronic has a element in it's sound quality that distinguishes them to give them diversity. Once it's applied and conditioned mentally, it becomes a weapon against them.

The inclusion of the alarm and also the music box (for a certain somebody) intensifies the gameplay formula and enforces that stress that you either love or hate. But it's very rewarding once you have all these neat details down and apply it to the gameplay that gives incentive to learn the game design.

I enjoyed my time with Locked at Freddy's and plan to continue my playtime with it, even after unlocking the Bad Ending & True Ending. It's a welcome addition and surprise that is unexpected but welcomed to scratch that itch for the original. The story, while similar, is somewhat changed but enough to keep it fresh with new story beats that may catch you off guard. The only issue I have is that the game does have glitches that soft lock the animatronics.

On Night 3, I had an encounter with Foxy and did the procedure as accordingly to nullify his attacks but it completely broke the game as the animatronics were inactive the rest of the hour. This happened subsequently throughout my playthrough and was enough to inadvertently give me a free win. Nothing too detrimental but a minor patch would help consistency and confusion.

Overall, a phenomenal game that kept me intrigued and invested to see the approach to a game we all know and love but give a nuanced design and story to keep us coming back for more.

Locked At Freddy's is a game that takes inspiration from Five Nights at Freddy's (2014) by Scott Cawthon.
It takes the beloved elements of the original, but expands the universe with new mechanics, a unique storyline, and new characters.

STORY:

Freddy Fazbear's Pizza was a truly magical place where children's fantasies came to life and fun was had. In the 90's this place was incredibly popular and rightfully considered the best in Hurricane, Utah. Indeed, because it was there that animatronics performed - cute characters that not only entertained children, but were a real breakthrough in the entertainment industry.

Since then, ten years have passed. Now the pizzeria has long been closed, and it seems that the memory of it has been erased from people's minds. However, not everyone is ready to talk about this place, because there is an eerie secret associated with it, which many people prefer to forget.

You are a young guy named Elliot, recently moved to Hurricane and desperately looking for any kind of job. As luck would have it, you stumble across a job ad for a night security guard position at the very same Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, from 12am to 6am. After making arrangements over the phone, you arrive at the place and wait for the person who is supposed to bring you up to speed.

But something goes wrong.

Spend one nightmarish night in this cursed place and realize: that you could just walk out of here, but something won't let you do it.
