Mario.exe (fan remake)

this is genuinely such a unique, well-crafted and super interesting mario.exe remake. this just might be one of the best exe games out there, honestly. i thought SMB Daredevil Edition was immaculate with it's presentation (not to discredit that game, it is also insanely well-made), but when i saw this? i felt a childlike joy.

honestly, my most favourite part about this game is the storytelling. it's very reminiscent of late 2010 sonic.exe games (the likes of sonic.exe blood scream & sonic.exe spirits of hell), where it's using the in-game universe and in-game characters to tell a unique story, except unlike the 2 aforementioned sonic.exe games, it has alot more polish. i'm a sucker for .exe games which go down this route, instead of the standard "demon entity breaks 4th wall and plays around with the player", it goes with the "bodysnatcher takes over main character and torments the main cast" instead. and the cherry on top is the fact that there's multiple endings that ultimately alter where the story goes.

this game is hype moments and aura in the best sense. i feel genuine joy whenever i stumble upon games like this. thank you for making this.

This is awesome!

i found 2 glitches
one of them is luigi gets stuck on their small idle sprite and doesn't move when running or jumping

and another is fire flowers randomly stop spawning on the final boss

With all due respect, this game always felt off. I understand this was handled by one person, however I don't like how the game plays out.

Physics feel VERY floaty, it makes Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I look like amazing, the level design has little to no obstacles for the most part, but when they actually do, it makes it hard to avoid without hurting your fingers on your keyboard. The boss fights... oh, boy, where do I even begin. Despite the ideas being decent at best, the execution is, if I were really blunt about it, terrible, especially the patterns, they are almost random, and the hitboxes are seemingly very small, and I don't understand why are they designed like that as far as I've seen. I'd be comparing to other games, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

The concept of the story itself, art direction and all, are decent actually, but honestly I feel like the game could've been a little bit better and less frustrating to deal with. Best regards.
