Right after the events of Sonic CD. Dr.Robotnik looks for a new source of power for his Antimatter Ray, so he can get all unwanted species off inhabitable planets and Dr.Robotnik can steal resources and build the ultimate polluting utopia.
While Sonic is on vacation, he meets Tails, an adventurous fox. That's when sonic spots a spaceship with the Eggâ„¢ trademark leave the atmosphere. Sonic believes this is up to no good, so he uses Tails recently built plane to chase after Robotnik.
