Chess Racer - Pawn going on a capturing rampage
This is a casual 2D endless game based on chess.
There are 3 infinitely long columns with chess pieces you need to capture.
Controls
On a touchscreen: Tap on a column to go there.
On a keyboard: Use arrows or WASD to move. Go left, right or forward.
Rules
You can capture opposing pieces diagonally.
You can go forward on an empty square.
You get points for capturing:
Pawn - 1 point
Bishop - 3 points
Knight - 3 points
Rook - 5 points
Queen - 9 points
The clock is ticking - when you run out of time, you finish the race.
After each move, you may get additional time, depending on Time Control options you choose.
Difficulty EASY
[Menu] -> [Difficulty] -> [Easy]
You don't have to plan your moves, just maximize points on capture.
Difficulty HARD
[Menu] -> [Difficulty] -> [Hard]
You need to constantly look 3 moves ahead and plan your next move carefully. You can make a wrong move and end up in a dead end.
Customization
[Menu] -> [Custom Colors]
You can change colors for pieces, as well as different board styles. (8 colors and 8 board styles)
Time controls
Menu -> Time Control
There are many time options to choose from. The most significant is Base Time, which is your starting timer value. For example 30 seconds for the whole game.
Increment is the time you get after each move. It can get smaller after each time, according to other time settings present in the Time Control menu.
Future of the game
This game is fully functional, however there are many improvements I want to make:
Make prettier buttons with better animations
Add different chess sets styles
Add achievements and leader boards
Make a few main Time Controls instead of current customization options
Add game progression (for example unlock-able styles)
Make more difficulty options, in which you need to plan 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 moves ahead. (Longer columns on screen)
Add wider options 4, 5, 6 columns
Add challenges a.k.a Races, that you can play.
