What do you think?

your work is so good, i hope you find success, bro.

I played the demo, it's amazing, I really liked it, one of the few visual novels I've enjoyed and by far the best.

I played the demo and honestly, I didn't have any particular impressions of the game (neither negative nor positive). The visuals and sound were excellent (though I played the entire demo without sound due to the browser. Chrome was more or less fine, I believe. But Opera and Microsoft Edge bruh ๐Ÿ’€). I'll only touch on the story.

I don't understand a single thing about the entire plot. I understand the demo was based on the comic (and the Angel Friends franchise). And frankly, I'm not a fan of the prequel format (where you need to know the prequel to understand what a given media will be about). As someone unfamiliar with the source material and the franchise, it was hard for me to understand what was going on. Okay. There's MC, Seraphia, and her lover, Cocytus, and there's drama going on in the vn (which they didn't even ask for). This is the clearest thing, but what happened between these two, the average reader (that's me) won't understand, because as I assume, all of this is revealed/shown in the comic, and for the dude (me) who came to read the VN, there's no point in reading the comic (because initially I came to read the visual novel, and not the sequel to the comic).

Okay, maybe I'm an idiot for writing such nonsense, fully knowing that the VN is a sequel to the comic. But if we imagine an average person who accidentally stumbled upon (fell for the visuals, let's say) this VN, without having the slightest idea about the comic, let alone the franchise, then this dude will have a very hard time understanding what's going on in visual novel.

Of course, the way the story is structured deserves praise. I liked that the story flashes between the past and present tense. This best reveals the characters and the world around them (even without understanding the prequel. It looks very cool). It's definitely a good approach to the plot, I commend it. I might seem rude, but I didn't mean to offend anyone, especially the author. The main thing is that the author enjoys what she does. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the full version and will play it if possible (if my Chrome allows it; the game crashed when I replayed it. But if I do, maybe my opinion will change). Overall, I wish the author nothing but success, never give up, and always move forward, no matter the obstacles. :)

(Uum...Sorry, I lied a bit. There is one positive aspect - BEATRICE).

It probably wasn't intentional. But I really liked your Beatrice (the pink-haired one), author. (*ยดฯ‰`*)

Eternal Frenemies: Return to Eternity - DEMO

Version: 0.1.02 months ago
The demo version of the game showing most mechanics and some features of the full game

Follow the story of Seraphia and Cocytus, two immortal lovers that are thrust into drama they did not ask for when their hard-earned humanity is suddenly confiscated. Their early memories together are explored as they try to find out what is going on and try to reunite.

This Ren'Py interactive novel is a part of the Eternal Frenemies Project, a transmedia story developed around original characters (OCs) of the Italian magical girl franchise "Angel's Friends". The story of this game serves as a prequel to the events of the ongoing Eternal Frenemies webcomic (which is the final part of the project's story), as well as a "lorebook" for the project as a whole.

ef_timeline_-_rte.png

As the base of the project's canon, the game's story is linear(a single storyline, with two versions of one ending) and the gameplay is essentially a "click-to-read book", but different dialogue choices at different times will reveal either extended background lore or hints/spoilers for comic chapters to come. The story itself is split between two timelines: past and present.

This game will be FREE to play with ten in-game achievements that can be saved as "trophies" on a GameJolt user profile via logging in with the GJ Game Token. I also have an idea for a follow up game depending on its success.

Flash Warning: flashes will occasionally occur throughout the game's story, in addition to contrasted colors changing very quickly for some backgrounds and CGs.

The game works best on browsers like Google Chrome and is not optimized for mobile devices. I am working to try and fix this for the full release.

Update: Demo is now playable both here and on my ItchIO!

Update: The game has successfully been compiled into a build under 1GB in size. To all of the people who played the demo in order to help me present a pre-emptive case for getting the game uploaded without the limit, I offer my sincere apology and thanks. I should have waited until the game was completely done before I contacted the support team.

Release Date is April 7th 2026!!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the demo and I look forward to bringing you the full version of this game soon!

IMPORTANT GAME #UPDATE COMIN THROUGH!

May I present the FINAL stats of the Return to Eternity VN game!! My work has paid off in that the final size still sits pretty under a gigabyte, so the game should perform fine on browsers!

More details in article!!

The storyboard is technically made up of cutscenes, but a lot of shots were redrawn as CGs for the visual novel game.

This is NOT one of them, but describes a "canon event" for the game.

Read article for more of my usual rambling and subtle encouragement.

Early context?? We're not about that jazz, that's the full game's story to tell.

Anyways, all of the assets for the game are FINALLY done and imported into the game build!

(Details and further info in article, PLEASE READ)

On tap for today, we have another in-story CG from the up-and-playable #demo (wink wink) complete with an article full of rambling on the game's development!

Said rambling is in the article, but hopefully you consider enjoying the demo anyway!

On tap today, we have an example of a choice that lets you decide how much lore you learn.

Also, on the topic of languages....

...the first release of the game will be in English only.

Reasons and player survey link in the article below(PLEASE READ)

#Update: All of the CGs for the VN story have been drawn!

Most of them will appear monochrome in the game depending on the POV, but just like the demo, their full-color versions will be unlockable!

(Details and more news in article, PLEASE READ)

I know I've been pelting yall with "Dollar-Store TED talks" lately cos the topics ravage my mind and keep me from working till I get them out, so here is a nice little break from all of that...

No I'm not giving context, that's the role of the full game

On tap for #ScreenshotSaturday I have a question:

What if I told you I'm working on a way to let you "log in" to this game so you can show off the achievements you earn even after you close it?

(Details in article, PLEASE READ)

Drew this little doodle way back when I was trying to find a way to battle the project's "continuity lockout"

It's a way to summarize the project's first page (and overall premise) in one image

For those interested - REALLY LONG explanation in article!

So this is a scene from the #visualnovel demo as it appears in the original storyboard (back when our pal Cy was a talking tree branch with an attitude - why did I make him so skinny lol)
