On tap for #ScreenshotSaturday I have a question:

What if I told you I'm working on a way to let you "log in" to this game so you can show off the achievements you earn even after you close it?

Yes, that is correct....I am referring to the GameJolt Trophy API. In this case, a modified version of the Renpy API from GitHub.

I couldn't get it to work in time for the demo (which was admittedly a more last-minute idea), but I can definitely try to implement it for the ten achievements of the full release! I have made one such trophy public now in the "trophies" tab of the game page (though it is inactive until the full game's build is uploaded) and hopefully you can see it!

Thankfully the coding isn't really heavy at all because I have already built the achievement system. But if it works, you can have some Eternal-Frenemies-style badges of honor on your dash!

For the new people on GameJolt, here's how it works:

First, find your GJ Game Token (found in your profile menu on the GameJolt site)!

Then, open the game and log in to the "GameJolt Login" main menu option with your GJ username and GameToken (the asterisks keep your secret, of course!). Then, play the game and anything you achieve should show on your profile trophy collection!

The achievements themselves are split between GJ's four tiers: bronze(2), silver(3), gold(3) and platinum(2). Since Return to Eternity is a storygame, they're primarily ranked on how time-consuming they are to obtain.

I plan to test this whole thing out before releasing the game! If it works, it will be included. If not, I'll use what I have learned to try and make it a successful feature in my next game!

I know that not everyone who plays will strive for all ten achievements (some may not strive for any at all), but I hope this will allow people to enjoy the game no matter what!

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.

So this is a scene from the #visualnovel demo as it appears in the original storyboard (back when our pal Cy was a talking tree branch with an attitude - why did I make him so skinny lol)
