What do you think?

I loved this game, thought it was a lot of fun! In particular the various fighting techniques and cute characters you meet. Would have liked each party member to have their own health so I would want to experiment a bit more with each, but that may make the game too easy. In any case, nice job and keep up the good work! #Sequel?

I'll put up a more detailed review on my blog next week :)

I think the battle time is too short ! You don't have any time to explore ! How can I get my life back ?

Well, looks like someone thinks this game is on-par with Rise of the Robots. XD

Thanks for the 1-star rating without telling me what issues the game has! Now I'll totally be able to use your amazingly well-written and great feedback to make better games in the future, or to improve this one! Oh, wait...

Maybe give feedback next time? I can't make better games without feedback, yo.

Assuming you aren't just a random troll who happened to stumble upon my game, of course.

This is real fun! try to add more texture to grounds and I really like the battle system.
music is great too!

NOTE: The description may be updated every now and then as I see fit.

The concept

Elecmythic Mysteries: The Humanity Legend is a mixture of #fighting games and #rpg available for #windows computers, using a simple 3-attack 2-direction control scheme for battles, and also features some DOS-inspired #retro style graphics. It also features a mix of #sciencefiction and #fantasy elements in the story. It was originally made for a GameJam, but has received a few minor improvements since then, including a better difficulty curve, significant control improvements, some text changes, etc.

The Battles

The battles work by combining fighting-game-like battles with significant action-RPG elements, such as experience points, an overworld, and random encounters. During battles, you cannot move directly, and you instead have to rely on your attacks to move around the play field. The three attacks at your disposal are as follows:

The Dash: This attack is used for moving left-and-right. It can be used mid-air, and can also be used to block lasers. The attack doesn't work well at close-range, though.

The Uppercut: This attack is used for moving upwards, and can be used to outrange the dash. However, lasers can knock a character out of an uppercut.

The Laser: This ranged attack doesn't really move you much at all, but it is instead used for attacking at a distance, and can also be used to hinder enemy mobility. Not very may characters have the ability to shoot lasers, though.

You can also switch between facing left and right at will, allowing you to dash away from enemies as well as you can dash towards them, and you can switch between any characters you've unlocked at any time mid-battle (though you'll always start any given battle as Alexis, the first character you unlock).

Story?

Now you also might be wondering: "Since this is an RPG, does it have a story?" Well, the answer is yes! It does! However, since the game was originally made for a Game Jam, it isn't a particularly long or in-depth story. I'll avoid spoiling the details here, though, the game is available for free after all!

Why not play it?

The game is decently short by RPG standards (I'd estimate it takes maybe 2-4 hours), and it's also available for free, so if you'd like to see for yourself whether or not the concept works, why not give it a go?
