Video Game Review
I played: IZIO: The Pixel Kishi
It is developed by:
by N_Studio @N_Studio
The platform the game is available on:
HTML 5 Web Browser
The game is about: A Kishi, which means "knight" or in other contexts a "beach" or "the ebb and flow of life" or "revival of life". The Kishi has no mission objective and is set loose to hack and slash anyone who isn't on his side.
The game controls use WASD for movement along a 2D side-scroller game and the left-mouse button of attacking, right-mouse button for a parry/counter-attack and the 'w' button allows the character to jump. In the Castle level there is not much need to jump except for entering the King Boss room through the stairs. The Jungle level follows a short path toward facing a sword welding Tarzan Boss. The controls are responsive and winning the fight depends on quick button presses. The difficulty is on Hardcore by default so beginners may want to set it on normal to have a less frustrating time that could make them throw out the game without getting to view both levels.
The graphics are true to the title and are an immersive art with many layers moving at once with the player's direction of motion. There is high realistic art forms that are presented in approximate pixelated finish and makes for a polished affect. I like the added sound effects, particle effects when swords clash and the animation that brings the Kishi to life on screen.
I did not like it when: I played the first time through on Hardcore mode. I forgot why I wanted to put myself through pain in-game and failed to get past the boss a few times but eventually reached the Kishi Execution screen.
Rating: All the right components for a violent action video game - 5/5 Stars
Good game! I beat it in nightmare mode!
This game is great! I seem to understand this is just a Beta, and if that were the case, keep up the good work, this game truly has potential! I love the different attack patterns of the bosses! It is unfortunate my computer is a bit slow, preventing me from parrying nightmare's bosses attacks on time, but that's on me, really.
