Great to see you still working at this still! It's definitely improved, and I'm sure you have much more to add, so I'll only say what you may not of thought about.

Definitely get a dynamical-scaled resolution. That means the game's resolution scales to the gamer's monitor resolution, not stretching the graphics but just increasing the room size, to use GM terminology, because stretched scaling looks ugly compared to seeing sprites in their original forms when you leap from a 4:3 to a 16:9 ration in resolution. I think the hassle dynamic-scaling would be well worth it, but if it's not going to happen then at least make the game 720p. For better or for worse, I imagine PlanIt having a vibrant pixel art style, which would benefit more using dynamic-scaling.

One concern with the gameplay that I have is with the fighting- it gets repetitive. Top-down combat is new territory as far as games are concerned, so I couldn't give an example of how to do it right, but I think you could do good playing around with a 'z-locking' system with shielding and parrying mechanics. I've probably said this ages ago, and I still have no clue how it would work in practice, so don't ask heh.

But maybe instead of making a mess of things with the actual swinging mechanic, reduce the amount of hack n' slash fighting you need to do, making every kill more slow and pre-meditated; more of a puzzle. Say the near-spawn, low-level creatures can easily escape from you if they're alerted of your presence and you have to eat, so instead of charging forth you need to 'hunt' it. Follow the target around until it's not moving and alone (one example could be going away from a whole group of the same species, where it's protected, to get a drink by itself) and then back-stab it, having to be discrete, possibly walking slowly (a new mechanic?) or hiding in a bush, maybe even use a bow and arrow that you could make/find.

You could do away with the HP system and make it all insta-kill for you (with fancy dying animations, of course). The aggressive enemies, which are concentrated near key-resources, would also have 1hp, but become harder to disable due to things like 'thick skin' to stop arrows, 'muscular bodies' to stop blunt weapons, long-reach weapons and 'fast reactions times' to kill you before you kill it with a frontal attack, and so on.

The whole surviving aspect could do with a change as well. With all the hassle that would come with hunting, you'll want to have traps & bait to have a more automatic, streamlined system, to store up food for long expeditions. Have a day/night time circle too. Not only will there be pretty transitions (thinking of Minecraft here), but the whole being dark thing could become a real danger to move about in (simply because it's dark and you can't see enemies, and there are more, different-to-daytime aggro creatures about at night) so there's a necessity to build tents that you made in your first few days on the planet. If you don't have a stockpile of cooked food (yep, you'd have to cook it) you'd need to build a fire as well, and get more food.

Writing this comment has made me think of more and more ideas, but I'll leave that for next time. I suggest you playing, if you haven't already, Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii (yeah lol) which excels in both surviving and fighting aspects as well as having a nice atmospheric vibe to it which I could see in PlanIt. Wherever you take the game, you have my best wishes. I've said this before about PlanIt and will keep on doing so, but really I'm excited for future builds.

How to play:

Explore a procedurally generated planet. Find and collect materials. Enter your base to store items, or break them down into the materials they are made from.

You can then craft tools like the axe and pickaxe, allowing you to find more wood, stone and ores. Craft better items with new, rarer materials. You can build extra warehouses further away from your initial spawn point, and walls to guard your base.

Watch out for any aggressive creatures on the planet, as they will attack you.

Rebuild your spaceship and take off into space. You can then explore entire solar systems, and land on new planets!

Work on the remake for the game has begun.

So far, a brand new inventory system has been created, and some basic scenery, weapons and items have been added.

An early alpha version of the game may be up as early as next week.
