Yeah Saskatoon :D
Ouch! I can understand about the hurry up and must be done before time run out stuffs but that doesn't mean the hero must move so quick and slippery like this :(. I rather have slower speed and run button than this
Speaking of hero, his jump is really low. He should jump higher
I'm also disappointed that hero can't kill enemies with trowel and hero can't stand on top of ladders. It's better to allow hero to kill enemies with trowel and enemies are respawned some time later. And hero should be able to stand on top ladder
Flying to museum after success/failure is cool at first but gets boring if repeated. It's best to only fly to museum after success OR better, at end of success/failure, there are options to choose: return to museum or retry the mission
On 2nd thought, allowing player to retry a successful mission isn't bad idea. This would allow players to do better ;)
Regardless of my complaints, this is decent challenging game. If you would do my suggestions above, it would be better :)
No weapons to fight with, no instructions, and a serious lack of originality. We are in Something Awful territory I'm afraid. 1/5 for some effort present. But not enough.
Great gameplay, but with a game this hard I think a quick turn around after a death is critical. The time spent flying in between levels is way too long.
A pretty cool and hard game but the movement needs some fixing and maybe even a song playing in the background but still great job 4/5
Instructions:
WASD or Arrow Keys to move. Spacebar throws trowels. You have 45 seconds to grab at least one artifact (the gold things) and make it to your escape plane. Failure results in a loss of points, but failed levels can be replayed. To complete the game finish the first four stages, then complete the final area.
About:
A Game for the Gamejolt New Years Game Jam. You will play the role of Saskatoon Smith, archaeologist. Your goal will be to collect artifacts for your museum, while avoiding rival archaeologists. Do you have what it takes to cram your museum full of shiny treasures?
Game is in a retro arcade style. I aimed for the optional challeges of "Retro sized" and "Crappy Remake." So I ended up with a knock off verision of indiana Jones who doesn't fight any Nazis, and a file size of around 368kb (zipped at least).
Dec 29 - Update
Game is now mostly complete. It could still use some music, more levels, and a better ending. But it is currently possible to finish and enjoy the game.
