I like the simple art style. And small 1v1 games can get pretty entertaining. Controls may need a bit of work, but its a challenge and that could very well be a good thing. Great idea!

Very peculiar fighting game. At the time of writing, no-one wants to play with me, but it looks like you could have much more fun when someone does want to play with you. Perhaps an AI based one player mode?
