3 GameJolt games that I recommend you to play while waiting for the next update of Through The Fragmentation

Recently I had to take a little break from the development because... well I've been working on this for more than a year. Fortunately I got back my energy (mainly because of your incredibly motivating messages) and just started to work again on the project today!

But since the game still needs some work I thought: Hey, I could tell you what other games inspired me and - who knows - maybe those can give as much inspiration to you as they've given to me.

Note: while I was writing this article my main goal was focusing on games that are easily accessible. So these are completely free and run well even on older computers as well.

So here are 3 games (from GameJolt) that I recommend you to play while waiting for the next update of Through The Fragmentation:

BEYOND PERCEPTION

I incredibly admire the visual design of this one. The creator used Unity's simplest shader (Unlit) and turned it into visual puzzles based on optical illusions. If it's not genius, then I don't know what is it.

Actually the aesthetics of The Hidden Fragmentation was completely inspired by this game. Later on I added more nuances to the style when I started to work on Through The Fragmentation, but the core concept was the same: creating 3D graphics with only using unlit shaders.

You might enjoy this game if you like first person platforming, visual puzzles and clever graphic design.

It's a quite short 3D adventure game from the first person perspective - but the genius of Tom Van Den Bogaart (the creator) truly shines here. Simple graphics, simple story, simple gameplay, simple environment, but somehow the game ends up being fantastic.

Also just as in Beyond Perception the graphics are based on Unity's Unlit shader here as well. I admit I can't help but admire creators who can put together fascinating things with using simple tools - and Tom has an unquestionable talent for that.

You might enjoy this game if you like minimalist first person adventure games with strange atmospheres and a gameplay focusing on exploration.

Another fantastic game by Tom Van Den Bogaart. This is actually a pure exploration game, there is no task the player has to complete - just a futuristic city with strange aliens. This might seem like a complete waste of time for some - but exploration lovers could definitely have some great time with it. I often end up playing this game again and re-visiting its fantastic places just for chilling out a little bit.

By the way keep your eyes open while playing this because it has surprisingly lots of secrets, hidden shortcuts and areas that you might not find at first.

You might enjoy this game if you like free exploration instead of focusing on game objectives.

Unfortunately these two creators are not active on GameJolt anymore - but let me know in the comments if you enjoyed any of the games

This is really weird. Am I the only one who gets redirected to this page whenever I'm trying to open a HTML build of a Unity game?

It's almost surreal to say, but... the game is completed! There is a huge chance it'll get released till this weekend.

A WIP non-euclidean space in the Fragmentation level of Through The Fragmentation.

The #BadArtChallenge is over and we're highlighting some of our faves!

You made such incredible bad art that we couldn't just give one of you a trophy.

The artists are tagged below

When you're working with graphics relying almost entirely on simple flat colors and color gradients, it's quite important to know if players with any type of color blindness will still be able to play your game.

This week's Fan Art Friday celebrates Minecraft! Accept the quest in your quest log to get started.

Me and the testing team be like

Through The Fragmentation was originally a cross-platform point and click adventure game with multiple dialog options and tons of lore to explore.

The main reason I switched back to first person was I felt the third person perspective very limited.

Quests inspired by Slime Heroes are still in your quest log! The game is an approachable souls-lite that's fun for the whole family.

I'll have some pretty interesting news related to Through he Fragmentation soon, but till then... @TophatParty created a wikipage for The Hidden Fragmentation. Feel free to check it out - or even participating in it: the-hidden-fragmentation.fandom.com
