Well, when you write a big RPG game like this, you are bound to get TONS of scenario. And these scenario parts can be a REAL killer in the amount of work you gotta do.
So, that’s why I came up … with this:
This tool allows me to very quickly work out ALL scenario, and not only that, since the game is bilingual (English and Dutch), writing the translation is just as easy. Because Dutch is my mother’s tongue translation from English to Dutch is easier for me than vice versa, and that is why I prefer to write all text in English first and make the Dutch versions a translation from the English versions.
This is one of the many “secrets” I use to make writing a full RPG game from scratch (that is without any pre-made engines like RPG makers) not a project that can never get finished (RPGs are rather infamous for that).
This tool was also used for Star Story, and has only seen a few bugfixes between the two projects.
It is written to be 100% compatible with the JCR6 system, which is the main file system the game uses. Also, if you thought I typed “Harry” three times (in the three fields in which his name appears), you’re nuts. The “name link” system will when turned on automatically copy to the other two fields what I type in one of them, no matter which one, only when I turn it off this won’t happen (for names this is only handy but if there is a person like “The King” I still got the freedom to write “De Koning” in the Dutch part). The system is VERY simple, and yet it has all the sophistication I need.
