Barter is a go! I repeat, barter is a go! But watch out. Some NPCs value certain items more than others. You might get a good deal on something from one person or fork over some extra stuff for the same item from another person

Just because your offer has a higher value doesn't mean it will be accepted. Multiple items that an NPC doesn't like will devalue your offer overall. Similarly, even if your value is lower, having good items that the NPC desires will definitely give you a boost

I'm thinking I'll put something up top there that gives certain clues about what NPCs like and don't like. Each item has a base value and their preference or distaste for the item could cause that value to go up or down ever so slightly. While this isn't much of a problem for lesser items, it could be frustrating for higher-end items if the player doesn't understand what the NPC is looking for in trade

Behold my beautiful canoe!

Working on battles. A little different than last time, aesthetically, but still the same basic idea

Lots of modeling the last few days. Got some houses made, remade some of my terrain blocks (rebuilt the harbor), and started on the NPC models. Also worked on the battle system and the follower system, now with 1/10th the code but 10x more efficient

This game has gone through so many iterations it's not even funny anymore

Dive into the cozy post-apocalyptic open world of Critter Cove!

Gentleman Rat Studios (@GR-Rob ) describe it as “a little bit Animal Crossing, a little bit Stardew Valley. Maybe even a little bit Windwaker, too."

Ah, yes, Grandpa and Grandma's old farmhouse, with a million rooms, basement full of mason jars, and the old '57 Chevy in the garage

I mean, not my Gramma and Grampa, but someone's, right?

Today's accomplishments include a rather smooth state machine, a functioning opening cutscene, and name input. It's not pretty, but there aren't any bugs

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.

Doing some designing of the main village, mostly so I can get some connections in and get the next part of the opening cutscenes roughed in.
