Game
Guide Dog

Brief update after minor absence because I had to take some time to do some major planning.

"Guide Dog" does have limitations. For example, it really can't teach proper formatting, what 1-3, 3-1, or 7-5 mean or how to implement them. I had a couple ideas, but it's really not feasible. Maybe I'll make them later levels, maybe even bonus levels, but I really don't think it's going to happen.

Already that makes things a little wonky. I'm following the UEB course from the NFB, all the same coursework that I took. Except, honestly, the coursework is garbage because they randomly cram a ton of stuff into a single lesson. So I'm having to go through and try to make things a little more sensible for the sake of the game. Wordsigns are therefore introduced much earlier in the game than they would be in the course, at the cost of things like capitalization, punctuation, and obviously no formatting.

Really, then, it comes down to lesson planning. From lesson planning comes level planning and area planning. And I really just needed to take a few days to get my stuff planned out and ready to go, now that I have the foundation pretty well settled and I think this is actually going to work.

Updated package should be released tomorrow Tuesday (because I keep thinking today is Monday). Fixed some bugs in the levels, so it should run smoother.

Art day today. Did a little messing around with the cupboards and some furniture. Got a wine cellar, shower and tub and such. Probably redo appliances, spiff them up a bit Once I get all the major stuff in, then I'll go through and build the levels

Ah, yes, Grandpa and Grandma's old farmhouse, with a million rooms, basement full of mason jars, and the old '57 Chevy in the garage

I mean, not my Gramma and Grampa, but someone's, right?

Doing some designing of the main village, mostly so I can get some connections in and get the next part of the opening cutscenes roughed in.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall

Who's the richest of them all?

This guy. Because he has two fridges, two microwaves, two chest freezers, and four ovens

And let's not talk about the luxury bathroom

Battle State Machine is working Player chooses what to do, enemies choose what to do, and they even have variable rates of attack/defend/flee. Next step will be to actually start dealing damage

With exception of some minor odds and ends, the home interior sheet is finished, which means I can start on all the levels. The next house (level 9) is an old farmhouse, the kind that had a bazillion rooms

Decided to do some work on the save/load. Name, Chapter, and even Total Play Time CORRECTLY FORMATTED Will work on the chapter banners later. Free time formatting code below

Level 5 complete Not sure if I'm ambitious enough to do Level 6 today. I might just need food first But it's looking like a demo is possible this weekend

Working on battles. A little different than last time, aesthetically, but still the same basic idea

Area 1 is complete! 7/7 levels!
