It’s been a very long time since the last release. I’ll explain more about that shortly. First let me talk about some changes.
Going with the theme of make-the-game-have-as-less-traces-of-RPG-Maker-as-possible, I’ve relocated the position of the command menu and changed the overall appearance of the Battle UI. The rest of the UI has been unchanged, as in my opinion, only the “main” UI was the one that didn’t look as nice as the others. I’ve also added some text to the ATB Gauge but I’m not too sure if its necessary. Tell me what you think.
Next up, a story-related change. The hooded figures you encounter in the first three chapters are not meant to be human, though this might not have been too clear. They’re supposed to be just like any other monster controlled by the baddies, so I’ve gone ahead and changed what they look like. The enemies in the picture you see now are what they will look like starting from the next release. Their overworld sprite will also be changed to a skeleton wearing a hood. It may not seem like a big deal right now, but it might get confusing in the long run. CPUs are supposed to be slaying monsters, not humans!
With those out of the way, let’s talk about why the next version isn’t out yet and why it’s taking so long. The most obvious reason is because of the new characters. It took a long time before I was satisfied with how they looked like and what their personalities would be. I haven’t even had time to decide what playstyle they would have (Yes, the Makers will not be playable in the next release. Sorry, about that. I know I sort of hyped them up. They will be usable in the next one after that though.) There are other reasons of course, but they’re simple quality of life changes that you might not even notice.
There WILL be a new update this September. I’d say the next version is about 95% complete, after which, the only thing that will stop it from coming out is going to be my slow Internet speed.
