On to my own opinion:
As a hobby game developer with only free games, I'm not impacted by these changes, but for other indie titles/studios this can be dangerous. It's a real shame for those who put in a lot of effort and now betray the engine. I understand that many people are upset by those changes and going to swap to alternatives.
I mean the engine is pretty great overall and I love to work with it and create games. It has clear ui, an intuitive game making process and a lot of possibilities.
However, one thing always bothered me about Unity: it's not open source and thus you don't have control over everything.
And this lead me to a decision:
I'm going to start with something new and focus on other stuff. I'm currently working with microcontrollers, learning guitar and drawing...
What this means to this account?
Well, I probably won't be active anymore. My games will still be available for you to play and maybe I'll take a look at this place once in a while, but that's it!
If I ever get back to game development, I will create my own engine or use Godot.
That's it!
