Hey all!
Since development started on September 1st, a lot has happened. Being a full-time college student, I have been chipping away at it in bits and pieces and am way on track for the Oct. 21st deadline. Here's some things I have done so far for the game:
Added a safe haven graveyard, like a hub when you die that holds trophies and people. Think Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls if you've played that game. Beating bosses and finding items and secrets add new decor and people to the graveyard. How neat!
(It starts out empty like this, but gains items eventually as you play and complete different runs.)
Added the first two basic levels: Pumpkin Patch and Haunted Graveyard. The only difference in these levels is that they are stylistically very different: one is a fall pumpkin patch and one is a spooky haunted graveyard with zombies and bats. This is to to add variety to the runs, and every run becomes different. There is also going to be one or two different bosses per level.
(This is the random level select screen, it's kind of set up like a castle or tower, the further you go the higher up you go. As the pumpkin patch and haunted graveyard are the first levels, they are at the bottom. In this run, the pumpkin patch was the level that was chosen so the graveyard gets locked out.)
Drew up two of the bosses for the respective levels: The Pumpking for the Pumpkin Patch...
...and the Masked Maniac from the Haunted Graveyard -- although I'm sure you know what this is reference to, but you gotta be more on the nose than that..
With that said, there's still a lot of work constantly happening on the game. You can check the scope of work in the game's description, and I will try to crack out as many devlogs as possible to show everybody my progress. Thanks for tuning in!
