Double update today! Early Screenshots from the RPG Perspective. + The Soundtrack Has Been Updated. New Version of Demo Coming Soon BTW.

As announced in the update earlier, I was mixing a top down RPG, and making the battles and missions the 2D platforming style that it had previously, I was originally going to start all over because Newer Super Mario Bros DS looked very similar, and I didn't want to rip off their concept. Just before completely scrapping the idea, I swapped the order of the level layouts, added some new ideas and mixed in RPG elements.

I haven't worked too much on the assets yet. I only have a few just being repeated right now, but am going to spruce things up a little while later, this was just more of a style test to see how it would look. This is the earliest part of the game, and is mostly setting up the story, so it won't be too interesting at this point.

Also, the Bun-Bun hotel is Dark's old castle. He didn't want to scare anybody off again, so he tried to make it more friendly feeling. However, due to him previously taking over, nobody really trusted him. And since Muppy was a star attraction, despite saving the world, Muppy was also deserted when defending Dark's idea. So even though Muppy was crowned king, his subjects left him(all but 2 of them, but only because one is his brother, and one has ulterior motives).

I always think of Muppy as someone who often gets shoved a bunch of responsibility, and does wonderful things with it(even though he doesn't know how, and doesn't really want it); while Dark always wants responsibility, and has better ideas than Muppy but just doesn't handle well with any of it. When I work on Muppy's burrow a little more, it'll make a little more sense.

I was originally going to do the prologue section last, since the original plan was that it would a remake of MTB:TDOW but I changed most of the plot and gameplay so I decided to do it first plus it stands on its own anyways. So anyways here is a teaser!

Wanted to practice drawing something different than usual so I drew Sans since the Deltarune newsletter just dropped lol. pretty proud of it being just a real quick doodle.

Still tryna figure out GMS2's sequence editor. Doing a quick test animation to get a feel for Monotious' more complicated movement. I also included some other random extra stuff at the end. Not as good as I would have hoped, but I'm still learning so eh

New demo released! Things are getting really crazy in my personal life so I probably won't be able to work on this for a month or two, and it's very buggy so keep that in mind Mac & Linux Builds will release soon. It wouldn't build so I'll try again later

Concept art for the first mini boss Ally Gater, I really like how she turned out.

Wanted to draw something in a(slightly) higher resolution style compared to my normal drawings, so I drew Lilly. Tried to capture a Paper Mario esque vibe with it, and I'm really proud of how it came out!

I'm going to try to get a new demo out soon, the prologue is roughly %75 complete, it's technically beatable other than boss fights, bonus levels, the sub area, and some cutscenes, it really needs some major touch ups though(especially Heatway Desert).

Thinking of trying for more of a 2.5d style, only major issues is that slopes are a pain in the butt to do, and I'll have to rework most(if not all) of the original code since the demo(which I'll have to do anyways), and the cutscenes will be harder to do

Progress is going smoothly once again, my attempts at animating the cutscenes are still...not good, but I am learning.

Alright, got things flowing a little better already, still obviously very early but overall starting to shape up really well IMO.
