This game is basically built as a way to "introduce" the player to the transmedia project called "Eternal Frenemies" (if they don't already know). The project itself has been around for six years now, so it also has people who will see this game and know exactly what's going to happen storywise. Thus, I anticipate two different types of people wanting to play the game: "newbies" and "veterans".
Though the game only has one ending(because of how dependent the project is on the story's canon, it's a dual-route type in that the information in several of the story's choices will be split to accommodate the two player groups.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Example: In the above screenshot, we have a choice shown to answer the question if the player "recognizes/knows the name of" the red-haired lady(whose name is not revealed in the game prior to this choice).
If the player is someone who does NOT know who the lady is prior to their first playthrough (a "newbie" who is not familiar with the project at all), they might select the option of Seraphia not recognizing her ("I'm sorry...have we met before?") - this player would get a "formal" introduction to the character and/or explanation of a concept or mechanic in the project's story.
If the player is someone who ALREADY knows who the lady is prior to their first playthrough (a "veteran" who has known about the EF project before this game was thought of), they would probably pick the option that mentions her name ("Miss Beatrice...is that you?") - this player would get either an additional piece of lore on the character that is not mentioned anywhere else, OR a hint of what will happen in future chapters of the webcomic (that serves as the last part of the EF project's story).
------------------------------------------------------------------------
That being said, not all of the choices will be this obvious (maybe still a little easy to spot). That is why some of the non-choice dialogue will also offer small explanations to mechanics and concepts. If you're new to the project through this game, just play assuming you know nothing about the EF project and pick accordingly.
Any veterans who play will have a bit of a "treasure hunt" on their hands for hidden lore that is EXCLUSIVE to the game's story mode (and crucial for figuring out what happens in the comic). And don't worry, the surprises don't stop there!
Anyways, back to work and Happy Screenshot Saturday!!!
