Hello Everybody!
Happy New Year Everyone! Today I wanted to show off some new things this month mainly about the new level I've been working on and the quality of life features I've added and will continue to add! I also wish to talk about the saving and progression system in the game as it hasn't been talked about much!
New Level - "Volcanic Damnation"
As the title suggests, there has been a new level added to Hollowborn which takes the player through a dangerous new dimension filled with new enemies and lava-infested rivers. Naturally, there will be many different dimensions with different themes and layouts, so far I've thought of a snow dimension, ghostly dimension, and so on for the game.
"Quality of Life" Features
Since starting the project I went in with a quality first perspective, and up until recently I found that I needed to stick to that perspective so I've changed, modified, and added lots of different aspects of the player, enemies, and how each level plays so playing the game is easy to pick up and play.
Saving System
When thinking of multiple playthroughs and ways to make playing the game worthwhile, I've added a save system that will save the players health, weapons gathered/bought, and more so for any reason, the player needs to leave or stop playing the game they will be able to continue where they left off before entering that dimension.
Level Progression
Now with Level progression it's simple as when the player completes the level there will be a pickup/key system where the player will pick up this key and that key will be used to unlock the next dimension, of course, I might change this system where the player can pick and choose a dimension to open but let me know what you think in the comments!
