Hello everyone!

Did you know that everyone that reads these updates is scientifically at LEAST 50% cooler than the surface of the Sun? It's true!

Over these past few days (closer to over a week), I've made some great progress, implemented a bunch of nifty little features, so much so that I think they need a segment all to themselves! So instead of our usual listing, please enjoy reading this status update!

--| THE BOOK |--

... Or, less dramatically, Iris' notebook!

Of course, one of the more fascinating parts of the Purple SOUL in Undertale is that you can obtain their notebook! When I first got it, my first instinct was to try and read or use it somehow, but ... you can't read their notebook. It's illegible, presumably ruined by water or time or any number of things.

Thankfully, we're in the past! So we don't need to worry about that, and can just read their notebook as it's being written!

The overall function of the book is fourfold! It contains all of your encountered monsters, all of your observations on the locations you've visited, all hints towards "sidequests", as well as Iris' personal diary that reacts to the choices that you make and the friendships you create (or break)!

When making Iris' notebook, it was brought to my attention that it bears resemblance to Team Switched's Underswap, in which there is also a notebook function. I hadn't heard of the game beforehand, but I was very self-conscious about the execution afterwards. It actually took a long time for me to start making the book at all!

But after a lot of deliberation I realized that all I can do is make it stand out as much as possible, and continue persevering with other neat features!

--| THE MAIL |--

Making a return from Undertale Yellow is the mail system!

I toyed long and hard as to whether or not I wanted to keep it "mail" or if I wanted to do something else funky (like a telegram), but I realized that the science just didn't check out. Not only that, but "telegram" is just a little too long to fit on the menu. So instead, I decided to make the UGPS' predecessor:

The Underground Mail Courier Service (or the UMCS for short. Less catchy.)!

Being your mail correspondant is the ever charming Private Pigeon (is he a pigeon? is he a dove? is he a metaphor for falling into irrelevance? who knows!), delivering you mail, story and the odd bit of chit chat if you're bored!

When finished, the mail system will have:

• Custom signatures for everyone sending you messages

• Custom mail backgrounds and fonts for everyone sending you messages

• A little jingle of its own!

• A couple of fun easter eggs...

These are the main things that were worked on in this log update! I hope you're as excited to experience them fully as I am to work on them (and that is, I hope you ten times more excited to experience them LMAO).
