Hello! It's me again!
Did you miss me? I missed you!
As it turns out, a large part of what makes Undertale - and by extension, fangames - mechanically tick is the battle system. Battles can control any number of things from your stats to your plot progression, and as such, they're very important to get right!
Double "as it turns out"... they're HARD!
I've had bugs gallore even getting the UI to run, but thankfully, progress is forward-moving, if a little slow! Pretty sure there's a saying about that...
What Am I Doing Right Now?
Right now, I'm preparing to imminently move into a new house! But in terms of the game ...
Fixing UI movement bugs
Fixing text drawing bugs when swapping between options
Making clickable "mini-menus" (such as picking items to use, and making "spare" or "flee" clickable!)
What's Been Done?
Fixed a PREVIOUS UI bug where .. nothing rendered at all.
Fixed another UI bug where heart placement when selecting options just .. didn't work.
A lot of bug fixing!!
Fixed a hole in my desk where I slammed my head against it (I was looking for new ideas - they don't exist inside of wood unless you're a carpenter (ant) as it turns out.)
Forward Plans!
I will push forward and persevere! Once this battle system is out of the way, the only thing standing between me and working on the demo is the cutscene system (which thankfully, isn't nearly as complicated as the battle system!)
Stay tuned for more battle system shenanigans, and enjoy a development screenshot!
