Hey everyone!
It’s been quite a while since the last update, thank you so much for your patience. Truth is, I’ve been taking a break from development and did a lot of thinking about where I want Otherside to go. I’ve decided to shift away from the 2D maps and start fresh with a new vibe by making a low poly 3D world instead!
That means a lot is changing; visually, technically, and creatively. I’ll be honest: I still have a lot to learn to pull this off, and most of what I’ve finished up to now will need to be rebuilt from scratch, though 2D characters like Noah will stay and they'll only get a redesign. It’s a big shift, but I’m genuinely excited about the possibilities this opens up.
Gameplay-wise, things are evolving too. I’m working on a new and better battle system that mixes the existing turn-based mechanics with special strengths and weaknesses for elements, which adds more depth to how characters interact both in- and outside of combat. It's still in an early stage, but I'm aiming for something unique yet familiar.
Right now, I'm learning the tools and techniques I’ll need to bring this new world to life. Progress might be a bit slower due to that, resulting in more time between update logs and a massive delay in the first demo, I'm sorry. But I'll make sure to keep you all updated on how development is going so far.
Thanks again for sticking with me. Otherside is growing into something I’m really proud of, and I can’t wait to show you a summary of the made changes within the next weeks and after I've done some changes to this page surrounding design and description.
Stay tuned!
