The game had a problem: Health was too generous during levels, but too scarce in boss fights. I've come up with a solution: Hitting enemies gives you energy!
Energy is tracked in a bar in the top left corner of the screen. When the bar is full, you'll heal 1 health if you're missing any. (If you're at full health and the bar is full, it will remain full until you get hit.)
Certain food items might change up how the energy system works. Some items may increase the amount of energy you gain when hitting an enemy, while others might change what happens when the energy bar is full.
