Hi folks;
Well, this will be a hard devlog to write. I’m now working on the most crucial part of the game story-line wise. The secret on which the final boss fight will be based is now revealed in the content I’m working on, and really I don’t want to have that one “revealed” in the open before the game has actually been released. (And if you did play the original game I coded years ago, then please keep that stuff silent, will ya).
At the current time I’m working on a small dungeon called “Pyrus Pass”. The dungeon may be small but here too some very important information about the story line will be revealed and a very important boss for the story-line will also be encountered here. Man I hate having to be so secretive since transparency has aways be my aim, but I need to protect my story prior to its re-release. ;)
Reaching this point has also been a milestone for me development-wise. The Pyrus pass is the first dungeon of the final chapter, and the final chapter will only have 4 dungeons (optional dungeons/sidequests not counted), so I guess that means that story wise the end is slowly appearing at the horizon. Unfortunately I cannot yet promise any beta releases on a short term. There are still a lot of issues to be taken care of.
If you are interested you can however, contact me about being an alpha tester. Lots of content are already playable, and as the alpha version is updated daily… Sometimes even multiple times a day, you can see the development progressing on some points.
Once all scenario in which voice actors were used have been taken care of, I can get onto working some stuff out on improvement of the voice acting. If you think you can do a better job than the voice actors who already did a pretty good job on the current version of the game. Aside from Hando Stillor, Sandra and the Fairy Elder, nearly all roles can be opened up for voice acting. It will take awhile before you can actually send in recordings, but if you played the demo you know some of the characters already, so you may be able to pick one.
Males:
Jake
Dandor
Chief Werrington
Fandalora
Krandar *
Hando Stillor’s grandfather
Emperor Gedrio Fulla
Females:
Marrilona
Sasha Funda
Feenalaria
Yannee *
The roles marked with a * are roles I am pretty content about the way they’ve been voice now, but basically if you think you can do better… proove it? :-P
I also think it goes without saying that Jake has the most lines when it comes to the male characters and Marrilona has the most lines when it comes to the female characters.
Oh yeah, don’t be afraid to share your outtakes with me, and allow me to put them into the game as well (the player will be able to hear them once they’ve defeated the final boss).
Once the voice acting is fully open I’ll announce it here and very likely also on the jobs-board on the forums.
When multiple actors try on the the same role, I will pick the best attempt. In case of doubt the one who came in first mostly takes priority. ;) (voice acting will be a volunteer job, but you will be credited for your trouble).
And so far my story for now… I hope I can really tell you more in my next update. One note, I do very likely only upload one more demo in the future, and that will be the final version of the demo before the first beta releases UNLESS some crucial bugs requiring immediate fixing are found. I don’t expect too much of those, but, hey, ya never know… ;)
