Eternal Frenemies: Return to Eternity

On tap for #ScreenshotSaturday, we have the CG gallery! Aiming for at least 20-40 images for the full game, but 8 are available in the #demo, so go play!

PS: Players who get all four demo achievements should then see a bonus CG on the main menu screen...

Yeah I can tell the alignment is a little off, but...if it ain't broke, don't fix it! (The game is free, after all) Best part is, every image will come with its own fun little caption!

I hope a lot of you get to see that last image (that will confirm that a similar feature is safe to include in the full game release)

On some serious business, time for an update...

A lot of you may not remember the Q&A I did for this game some time ago cos on this site I had to split it up into seven parts. One question addressed the dynamics, which I would like to explain a little.

As complex frame-by-frame animations are the most surefire way to make a game way too big, I am not planning to include any in the full game. The unlockable 9th CG in the demo shows what I can allow in terms of space and storage: sliding stills. In this manner, some of the backgrounds will have moving elements to them, behaving kinda like GIFs.

The absence of animation in the visual novel can be augmented with CGs for every dynamic/important action the characters make. For this reason I want to include as many as can be used to enhance the player experience, even if they are linked to achievements instead of the storyline. I just have to experiment and find the right amount to allow for a decently large soundtrack as well (one run of the story is estimated to take the average person an hour or two to read lol)!

That's all for now, so go ahead and give the demo a play to see this in action for yourself!

Here we have the concept art of Lilac, the protagonist of my very first VN game: "Equals Aftermath: Begin Anew"!

Short and simple with 4 characters, 6 songs and a wholesome story, it's a sweet little breather between other games!

Oh lookie, it's the DEFINITELY final version of the main menu screen (which will only stay if I can successfully program the login option in time...if not, I'll remove it)!

Also got some important news...explained as an #update in the article below.

Crazy how it's almost been four years since I completed the entire woulda-been-film storyboard...

And here we are now, with this same scene being playable through choices in the demo (with MUCH better art too)!

On tap for #ScreenshotSaturday I have a question:

What if I told you I'm working on a way to let you "log in" to this game so you can show off the achievements you earn even after you close it?

So this is a scene from the #visualnovel demo as it appears in the original storyboard (back when our pal Cy was a talking tree branch with an attitude - why did I make him so skinny lol)
