Hyperion Reach will be a space fight, exploring and trading game with some additional features I cannot show right now as I don't have anything about those yet.
The game right now is a prototype which has been written on paper and it looks good. The basic ship movement system is done, a basic description of factions, the basis of the story from start to end...And most importantly, the scope.
When you start getting ideas for a game for creating the prototype, your mind will GO WILD, you will start imagining a lot of cool stuff that you could add to the game, but you must think it cold as you are not aware of the developing time (speaking as solo dev) that it could take you.
You must sit down, take a piece of paper and say, okay, first how many chapters/missions this game will have? How many items? How many different things? You must create certain numbers for anything you create to be able to design accordingly into a well designed game.
If you have uncertain numbers, it will be much harder to put everything together. It is possible but you will save a lot of headaches this way.
Also, be aware you don't need to add everything in one go. Games like project zomboid or starsector add stuff over time and that doesn't make them as bad as their first version of the game. In contrast, they are praised for the constant updates and how much the game has evolved overtime.
I don't know where this journey will take me, I hope far because I'm loving this prototype.
Have a good one!
