So we’ve finally hit March, folks! And since the last devlog, there have been a slew of improvements and additions made to Shrouded.
For starters, there’s a new, more polished main menu in place, which you can check out a video of right here! The original draft was a bit too static, truth be told - so a bit more flashiness was certainly in order.
Chapter 2 has been given a visual overhaul, too. After lots of trial and error, the final aesthetic for this location’s tilemap has been nailed. In Chapter 2, player’s will have to traverse somewhere even more surreal than Greenhaven Library in a bid to escape. Strange entities, bizarre traps and an utterly haunting landscape not present in Chapter 1 will certainly keep you on your toes.
On the topic of level design, there have been plenty of new individual areas added throughout all parts of the game to provide the keen explorer with a variety of little secrets and spooks here and there. We won’t go into too much detail for the sake of keeping things unspoiled, but suffice to say it’s in the player’s best interest to deviate from the obvious path from time to time - you may just be rewarded for it. Or punished. You’ll have to find out for yourself.
Though the big announcement, at least for any Irish followers, is that I will be attending State of Play 2017 in Dublin this April - and Shrouded will be playable to the public for the first time! If you’re around on the 5th, feel free to swing by between 1 - 5 PM to try the game out.
‘Till then, stay savage,
~Crimson
