God's Tear

Taking a break from programming, let's focus on design and concepts for now. #gamedev #godstear #2dgame

The Demon Hunter

God's Tear is set in an alternate world where three realms exist: Realm of Light, Realm of Dark, and The Mortal Realm. These realms are connected by interdimensional rifts called Realm Tears. This enables Celestials and Demons to cross over and walk the earth. While crossing between realms is not uncommon, it requires authorization, and certain rites must be observed.

Beings that go through the Realm Tear unauthorized are called Defiants. These Defiants cross over to the Mortal Realm to sow chaos and cause imbalance across the three realms. It is for this reason why Hunters exist. It is a Hunter's purpose to hunt down Defiants and protect the Mortal Realm from harm.

Among the Hunters there is one name that resonates across all realms. That name is Aether, the Demon Hunter. Aether is said to possess the power or Anubis, a Death God. This power grants him exceptional strength, vitality, and agility, making him very effective at hunting down demons. He wields a rather large broadsword he calls Asmodan, that has the power to absorb souls and provide him with greater boosts to his abilities. It is also said that he is an immortal, and is well over thousands of years old.

Much of his reputation comes from him being a hunter, but his past is a complete mystery-- no one really knows who he is, or where he came from. He doesn't belong to any hunter faction, and is known to operate alone. He can also give off an ominous and intimidating aura, causing him to be disliked by his hunter peers.

As far as gameplay goes, Aether is a melee character. His primary attack is his weapon, which starts out as a sword. Overtime, the player will acquire powers that would enable Asmodan to transform into other weapon types such as a scythe, warhammer, and a chain. After certain conditions are met, he can go into an "overdrive" mode, also known as his Anubis Form. While in this form, his attacks are much stronger, his health gradually heals for every damage he deals, and he gains a blast attack that deals a considerable amounts of damage.

Using Unity's Timeline tool, I added short cutscenes to tell the story of the game. I don't know why the music gets cut off though. This only happens when I use Unity Recorder but in actual it's fine. #gamedev #madewithunity #screenshotsaturday

Started prototyping the Player Assist feature. With a press of a button you can summon party members that will perform their special attacks. I know it looks like Ender Lillies but my inspiration was the Marvel vs Capcom games.
