Some months ago, I discovered that implementing the new HUD essentially made older saves unplayable and that the only fix was to have everyone start over. Today, the HUD has given me another problem. No, you DO NOT need to restart like last time, but you will have to face the disappointment of the command menu being in the same place as it has always been.
What happened was that the changes I made to the positioning of the UI would be reflected in a fresh game, but not in already existing save files. In other words, the position of everything you see in the Battle HUD is final, and cannot be changed. I know it sucks, but the alternative option is to mess around with the game’s files and risk breaking something that will force everyone to restart for a 2nd time.
Let’s end on a positive note for this Devlog. In 1.6.0 I added a plugin that allowed players to know whether their elemental magic was doing normal, more, or less damage to enemies. I had to take the plugin out in 1.7.0 because it prevented damage-over-time effects from being displayed, and would cause a skill that you haven’t seen yet to crash the game. At that time I hadn’t found a replacement for the feature, but now I’ve got something. The ability to check for Elemental Weaknesses will be making a return in the next update, though not in the way that it used to be.
That’s all I have for now. Thanks for waiting patiently these past 4 months!
