Update ver. 09-17-2023


Okay, first things first. Before I post any actual game updates, here's where I stand on the whole Unity debacle. If I were a commercial dev doing this for a living, I would completely side with everyone here. But as it is, I'm not planning to ditch Unity. I am only developing SSBF, my only game EVER, so I'm not switching just to have to restart the whole damn thing all over again. My project is a free, non-commercial fan game. So this won't affect me. After Feud is done, 100% whenever that is, including bugfixes and all, Unity gets uninstalled and that's the end of it.

OK! Now that we got that out of the way, I worked on edges again. I keep forgetting how unreliable Time.deltatime and fixedDeltaTime are for consistent movement, like those of edge getup options, so I had to take those out.

Next up, I've added an event that tells the game "OK, the 3-2-1-GO! countdown is over, turn on the controls!" Until now you could move your fighter around before it got to GO. Big bug.

I've also begun adding items to the game. Their models, sounds and animations to be exact. I had a working Super Mushroom a while back, but it needed improvements.

Now that I've started on a Battlefield stand-in, I might just do the same for Final Destination and the Results Screen for the time being. Especially the latter. It just makes sense for right now.

Finally, to close this off, I might have come up with a better solution on how to do button combo, like A+B = Smash. More on that later.
