v5.05 has been uploaded to GameJolt and Itch! The full changelog is available in the article below. A spoiler tag protects spoiler changes.

Please note that the game borders and colored sprites settings available in this version are incomplete.


A big thank you to @ws3917 for implementing options menu changes, mobile controls changes, game borders, colored sprites, and character running.

> The options menu has been overhauled, and you can now enable game borders, character running, and colored sprites.

> The Chinese translations are complete, and are now available within the options menu as well.

> The insignia on the right side of the chestplate of Papyrus's battle body mistakenly appeared on the left in several of Papyrus's sprites. This has been fixed.

> The game's input system no longer uses an alternate method which was added in a previous patch. The method caused more problems than it solved, breaking input for users with specific keyboard languages and layouts.

> The mobile controls have been completely overhauled, and are now far more customizable within the options menu.

> Choicers in dialogue boxes now highlight the text of the selected option in yellow. This avoids confusion in situations where it may be unclear what's being selected.

> Several typos and grammar errors have been fixed.

> Game speed in the debug menu, where previously expressed as a multiplier, is now expressed in terms of FPS.

> The text "INF" has simply been replaced with the Infinity symbol throughout the game.

> It was once possible to start the first Alphys lab cutscene from a position which caused Alphys to walk through solid objects. This has been fixed.

> The timer in Mettaton's "arts and crafts" show will now only start counting once Mettaton's dialogue completes and you're free to move. This makes the timer a little more forgiving, and prevents a bug which occurred if you never advanced Mettaton's dialogue here.

> The force-save in the Chaotic route before the shuttle cutscene, which was added in an earlier patch, has been removed. The change was unnecessary to begin with.

> The LV20 ending phone call between Sans and Frisk has been removed and de-canonized.

> Since the release, if you'd started a Chaotic route without going too far, it's been possible to reset and start the Chaotic route again just by killing Toriel, as opposed to everyone in the Outlands. In this scenario, however, if you had backtracked to the Outlands after killing Toriel and starting the route, the save points would not show "Determination" unless you'd killed everyone in the area again. This has been fixed.

> Flirting with Doge and Muffet under specific conditions did not give them the pink pacifist credit -- or add to the flirt counter -- where it should have. These have been fixed.

> In the bully route epilogue, the internal prices of the items in the Tem Shop didn't match the displayed prices. This has been fixed.

> Sans now reacts properly to the usage or dropping of relevant items (cheesecake, spaghetti) when you're with him at his sentry station in Aerialis.

> In the pacifist epilogue, you could still interact with the DJ table in the Outlands despite it not being there anymore -- it even had dialogue. This has been removed.

> It was possible to call Papyrus's phone in the room where he's seen meeting with Undyne, even as he's about to do just that. This has been fixed to increase the suspense for players who attempt to call him here at this time.

> The "rescue" segments of the Twinkly fight now have a 35 second timer on the mobile version, 5 seconds more than on the desktop. This allows mobile players, whose controls may not be as precise, to complete the minigames on time.

> The system for changing the shield direction in the Undyne fight now uses an input queue when multiple directional keys are pressed simultaneously.

> It's now possible to block Undyne's spears even after they've crossed the shield's edge a little, making the battle more forgiving in this regard.

> Previously, all music files for all Undyne fight variants would load at the same time, no matter which version of her you fought. Now, only required files are loaded, saving memory.

> In all rooms of Toriel's home, both "Home" and "Crash-Landed" would be loaded at the same time. Now, only the required files are loaded, saving memory.

> Sans now makes an empty eyes face at you before hanging up the phone in the neutral ending where Papyrus is the only person you've killed.

> A new text prompt has been added when "buying" Temmie Flakes during the pacifist epilogue.

> The particles emitted by Cozmo's orbs no longer appear on the settings menu while it's open.

> If Alphys isn't around to interrupt Mettaton with a phone call during the "villain" variant of Mettaton's "arts and crafts" show when Mettaton starts making the "fun slime", Mettaton will interrupt himself instead, saying it "might actually get someone killed" as if it'd already been revealed that the "fun slime" was in fact plastic explosive. This didn't make any sense, so a new piece of dialogue was added for this scenario.

> While being chased by Undyne, it's possible to enter Napstablook's house and turn on the stereo, muting both the chase music, and the music in her battle if you start the battle in that room with the stereo on. However, it was possible for the chase music to play on top of the stereo music under certain conditions, and if it did, it'd continue even after Undyne's battle was over. This should now be fixed.

> Dropping the Super Starwalker 1 comic near the NPC who sells it to you now has a dialogue reaction.

> If you won the Mew Mew doll during Mettaton's "time versus money" show, it was possible for Alphys to call you later on, telling you that "you don't even have it" even if you do. She now has a dialogue line which makes more sense here.

Due to Gamejolt sucking really bad, I can't finish the upload of 5.04. I tried yesterday and today, and it still broken. This update fixes that new chaotic route bug introduced in 5.03.

aaaaand the week of trees kicks off with one unfinished tree! may have underestimated how hard it is to draw one of these things, had to spend a lot of the day learning proper techniques. this will probably be more like the 2 weeks of trees xD
