Around a month ago, my hard drive decided to just stop working and prevented my computer from booting up. Upon inspection, there were a handful of files that got corrupted. Luckily, pretty much the only relevant things I had in there were my Steam games, and all resources related to Exadimension Neptunia. Unluckily however, it was the majority of ExaNep’s files that took the brunt of the damage. Looks like the CPUs of Gamindustri sacrificed themselves to protect the rest of my hard drive.
Fortunately, I keep regular backups of everything related to the game. Based on my tests and inspections after getting everything back together, it would appear that I only lost around 1-2 months of new content. Not particularly a big deal to me, but somewhat annoying since I was pushing for the next version to already be almost finished around this point in time. I had been planning to get a new computer on July anyway, so I decided to wait until I got that before focusing on development again.
Now that I have everything I need, my time will first be focused on returning the game’s progress to where it was before my drive broke, and checking for any broken data or assets along the way. This process somewhat overlaps with adding new content set to be released with the v1.9 update, so there shouldn’t be (I hope) any further delays. The new target release date will be somewhat iffy though. As you know, I tend to avoid releasing new updates in close proximity to the release of official games. With Brave Neptunia being released late September, my options are to try and have the release up by early September, or wait until mid-October. Of course this will all depend on how much work I can get done.
SEPTEMBER EDIT: Brave Neptunia was reportedly pushed back for a December release. The update for v1.9 will no longer adhere to my previous policy stated above and will be released as soon as it’s ready, regardless of whenever the official game comes out.
