This #FanArtFriday, I'm participating wholeheartedly, as it involves something I've LOVED and adored for over 20 years.
KING COLD from DRAGON BALL Z.
His son Frieza is how I got into DBZ at first, but my heart was instantly captivated by King Cold in the Trunks saga. Here we had the badass-looking father of the brutal villain Goku spent an entire saga defeating, accompanying him back to Earth to exact revenge.
In some sources, King Cold was said to have an even higher strength/power level than Mecha Frieza's, or at least Namek Frieza's. It's hard to believe because he went down like such a b!tch and got fewer chances than Frieza did to try and defeat Trunks.
I fell madly in love with his design/appearance, and the worlds of unexplored potential the father of Frieza had. I believe it when I hear he was stronger than his son. King Cold was older and probably had a lot more control over his power and a lot more fighting experience in the past.
I also like how he's more calculating, strategic and pragmatic than Frieza was, suggesting they just blow up the planet from space. He barely wasted time in trying to kill Trunks with his sword, which leads me to believe "yeah, this guy could have been dangerous af"!
And that's just what is RUMOURED to be his second form. I don't put that much stock in the forms thing, he could even just be in his first for all we know and he's just friggin' huge lol
Anyway, here's my fav drawing of him I made, I titled it "Attack of Frieza's Father". Because I'd always dreamed of seeing him get a chance to shine and show what he can do in anime material. I based it on the scene where Trunks would normally shoot a blast and impale King Cold's chest. I'd always wanted to get a chance to witness him see that coming and just "ZAP!" out of the way and try his hand at fighting Future Trunks the old-fashioned way.
I'm gonna have A LOT of fun in Sparking ZERO and its new Scenario Editor
