"Who is the grey Sonic?"
His name is Soulmore, the main antagonist of the mod. Soulmore is a being created to cause destruction and chaos. Soulmore, deciding not to play by the rules, consumed almost all souls that we're suffering in hell. Because of that, he was banished from the underworld because of the fear that he would become the ruler of hell. Now he's stored inside a copy of a mysterious sonic game ported to PC to get more victims to play with him
