Inspired by action platformer classics of the 16-bit era, "Project: Fantasy X" is a 2D side-scrolling action-adventure platformer game featuring:

  • The original fantasy world of Elythia, a magic-infused world full of mystic cultures, monsters, kingdoms, and ancient history to uncover

  • Platforming, movement options, and level-design made to complement the dynamic, versatile magic system

  • Deep melee and ranged combat mechanics inspired by fighting games and beat-'em-ups

  • Legendary boss fights against epic elemental beasts

  • Secrets and collectibles to discover and unlock, affecting gameplay and uncovering lore secrets

  • A gripping and dramatic story spanning continents, kingdoms, and generations of historic conflict

  • Original composed music tracks for every level, environment, and the variety of story and combat encounters throughout the game.

  • Lots and LOTS of pixel art!

This is a dream project of mine that may yet take me many years hence to finish, but is something I'm determined to see to fruition in its fullness. I don't plan on compromising my vision for this adventure. I'll hope you'll join me on my progress on this journey. Wish me luck, and welcome to the world of Elythia!

just doin some concept art. waterfall jungle level in the second act of the game. I think I want to do as many of these as I can with every level in the game. it's just been sitting in my head for ages--'bout time I finally open the can and pour it out!

Great progress today. Knocked out a ton of the variants for different points in the story. The last main things to do are reverse engineer Henry's design, interpret my create-a-character as a sprite in my style, and... Kael. Ugh. We'll see about him... :P

I've also updated the pinned post with this, but for anyone who might have missed it, here's an invite to our official discord server. Come hang out and talk about Elythia!

Lately I've been setting up a lot of new characters, so I'm filling out my portrait project chart to make sure I don't forget anyone. These spreadsheets are so invaluable to my ability to organize my thoughts. Y'all have no idea.

The only way I've been able to keep this project intact is via the massive amount of notes and details I've kept totally organized in spreadsheets & sprawling OneNote docs. There's a lot of ideas to juggle, and these tools help keep me from dropping them.
