0.3.0 is here! - Wildlife Survivor

Greetings wildlife survivors,

After merely a month of no updates, 0.3.0 is finally here! Here are the patch notes:

Difficulty Options

  • Added difficulty options: Peaceful, Easy, Medium, Hard, Nightmare and Custom

  • Enable or disable hazards/player benefits with Custom difficulty. Adjust the gameplay how easy or difficult as you see fit.

Player Changes

  • Lowered sprint cost rate by 30% (10 -> 7)

  • Buffed walking stamina recovery

  • Player no longer loses stamina if shift key is held while in the air

  • Thirst rate reduced by 50% (0.5 -> 0.25)
    — However the thirst drain rate while sprinting might be still fairly close to the original

  • Player now has a “Dodge Leap” move
    — Done by sprinting forward and pressing jump
    — The player will gain extra boost of forward momentum, useful for dodging and burst of extra speed
    — Player loses 15% stamina, 1% thirst, and 0.5% hunger per leap
    — Possible to do a simplified version of “Bunny Hopping” by timing the consecutive jumps properly to gain even more speed.

  • Player light is now a point light (full 360 degrees). Difference is barely noticeable on standard resolution settings.

Enemy Changes

  • High Mountain Wolf and End Road Wolf have increased acceleration, and move more unpredictably when attacking

  • All wolves properly pounce at you now. They gain more speed when pouncing at you for an attack

  • Wolves now have stamina and will get tired if they chase you for too long. Their chasing movement speed gets reduced by 50% once their stamina reaches 0. This will give the player an opportunity to escape.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a river texture found at the edge of the map

  • Fixed an attacking script error with Canyon Wolf

  • Fixed chase music from getting too loud when multiple wolves chase you
    — However the alternate, higher pitched chase music (from certain wolves) has been removed due to change of how chase music system works.

  • Fixed moon transparency. (It was barely noticeable due to dark sky)

  • Fixed “shadow legs” bug when you look down after Super Jumping.

  • Wolves no longer enter your home if you’re inside it. They used to clip through the walls.

  • Minor adjustments to the river mesh placements
-Fixed a few more floating trees
    -Fixed river rock collisions

Quality of Life and Other Changes

  • Added a pause menu with options
    — Change mouse sensitivity, volume and video quality settings

  • Snowflake textures have been updated to look more like a “snowflake”

  • Snowflakes should be evenly distributed across the map now. They used to only appear around the home and canyon area.

  • Fog is less dense now

  • Bunny compass has been added for easier difficulties

  • Foods now respawn after 60 seconds when eaten

  • Bunnies now have a faint emissive light to make it slightly easier for the player to see them

  • Title screen background fog is a bit darker, to closely match the fog colour in-game.

  • Intro level text lasts longer before fading out

  • Due to updating the project to Unity 5.4, the default splash screen looks more plain.

Hope you enjoy the new patch. Have a nice day!

If you have more of an acquired taste, the restaurants in Niravasi have you covered! Maybe skip the salad bar, though.

I mostly build 3D First Person Shooter game mechanics in Unity, and in this I'm just showing C4 mechanics I made for a little side project I am working on! :)
