FoodEater 1.1.0

Patch Notes - 2019/12/08

It's time to return to this project, make some improvements, and make the game feel more complete. The snake's diet now includes frogs, its tail now becomes a little smaller with each segment, and there are fewer bugs.

Additions:

  • Frog - a rare food type that disappears if it's not eaten within 4 seconds and rewards 15 points

  • Each snake tail segment now becomes slightly smaller than the one before it

Changes:

  • Renamed the game to FoodEater

  • Moved speed settings to a select screen prior to the start of the game

  • Sped up the slow speed and slowed down the fast speed

  • Reduced regular food point value from 10 to 5 points

  • Minor UI alignment changes

  • Minor code optimization

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a snake tail spacing bug that made tail segments spawn too close or too far from each other

  • Food can no longer spawn under the snake tail at the start of the game

Replaced my old shop textures with new ones...works like a charm

Working on fixing the perspective in my game. Not quite there yet, but it's definitely improving.

I really thought I had "fixed it" when I posted the before and after images. How wrong I was...

The early stages of a loot system. Next, I will have to figure out how to replace repeated items with numbers on top of one item.

Items can now be moved between inventory slots and swapped places with each other. The inventory system is slowly coming together!

The current state of the loot system in my game. Players can select up to four locations where they want to scavenge and receive some randomly-generated loot.

Learned how to use Adobe Illustrator just for this, but I finally gave my characters a much needed makeover. Here is one of them.

The humble beginnings of what will eventually become an inventory system. For now, it’s just a grand display of apples though.

So guys, we did it, we reached 1 000 stickers

Figured out how to display the number of items found instead of displaying the same item multiple times. Might be a little hard to see them in the gif though :(
