Dead Alone - Beta 1.41.0 is available now !

I got a new small update for Dead Alone today, it includes a complete rework for the workbench UIs and many quality of life changes and fixes !

Features:

With this update, the Workbench UI has been completely redone to offer a more easy and clean experience when navigating the different menus, I have made a quick video to showcase this brand new UI:

Now, let’s talk a bit about the changes that have been done. Overall, all the UI elements have been simplified to reduce the number of actions required to do a specific thing. The simplification also help greatly to display only the most important and relevant informations without useless visual clutter.

  • First of all, the initial menu that showed up when interacting with the workbench has been removed and the 3 sub menus are now accesibles through tabs on top of the screen. When interacting with the workbench, you will now be presented directly with the weapons list menu, no more useless clicks !

  • The weapons list menu has seen a lot of changes too, the list is now more compact with only the most important stats visible for each unlocked weapon, the 3D model of the weapon is also displayed on the right of the screen.

  • The details and upgrade UI for weapons has also been completely reworked. You can now see all the stats of the weapon on the left panel as well as the upgrades available on the right, when hovering an upgrade you will see the new stats compared with the current one in a way more intuitive and simple manner.

    You can also see stats such as killed ennemies, headshots, accuracy, etc with the “show weapons stats” button on the bottom.

  • Once you are done with weapons, you can take a look at the equipement upgrades panel ! Here, all the useless submenus have been removed and merged into one single UI.

    You can directly see the list of all the equipements on the left with only the relevant stats and informations. And on the right all the available upgrades for the hovered equipement.

    Just like for the weapons, hovering each upgrade display the new stat compared to the current one.

  • And finally, the Crafting UI has also seen some various changes, the list of crafts on the left has been simplified and now only require an hover to display the selected craft instead of doing it with a button. The UI on the left and right have also been reworked to reduce instances of overlapping on some screen resolutions.

    The crafting list for ammunitions has been tweaked to display ammos for the equipped weapons on top of the list in order to make it easier to craft relevant ammunitions

All those changes allow for a better and far easier experience when navigating this very important menu.


Changes and fixes:

  • Each weapon type now has a specific crosshair

  • Improved animations when swapping weapon while reloading

  • Improved visual and audio feedback when taking damages

  • The resolution setting will now display all available resolutions for the screen plugged in instead of a fixed set of resolutions

  • Improved AI attacking behavior to reduce instances of unregistered hit

  • Added particle effect when the player is on fire. Molotov and explosive barrels now also properly deal fire damage over time

  • Various improvement to UIs

  • Improved AI reaction and feedback to melee attacks

  • (Horde) Fixed a major issue that caused the shop to close instantly after opening it

  • Fixed an issue that caused the crafting system to always consider the sleeping buff “Clever Crafting” as active

  • Fixed an issue that could cause the “break timer” to be skipped even if the player did not press the input

  • Various fixes to the ‘window mode’ settings not being applied correctly
