Our Progress Report
Introduction
Hello, Lightnerds and Darknerds. Welcome to the first-ever Progress Report for Beyond the Darkness. A lot has happened in the two years since its development, and there is still so much to discover! But we won't spoil it all for you. And now, without further ado, I present you with Deltarune: Beyond the Darkness Progress Report #1! I hope you enjoyed reading all of this because it was quite the progress report to write, rewrite, and so on.
Chapter 3: Railroad to Freedom
Deltarune Chapter 3: Railroad to Freedom has made the most progress, despite staying unfinished! However, we have made substantial progress, proving that we did not merely sit on our behinds. Now, let us show that this project is legitimate and not just bait. Now, before you ask, "Are these numbers legitimate? Are you lying?" and so on... I'm not sure if these stats are accurate. I'm going with what I believe and hoping it's correct.
Writing - ~45%
So let's start with the writing... Now, writing is taking the greatest time to progress because I am careful about what is and is not written. However, if you want to see the writing for yourself, I recommend clicking here to check the progress made thus far... Now remember... the text is subject to change in the future, so read at your own risk.
Designs - ~75%
Despite the fact that we haven't done much writing, we have a ton of designs to show off to you at home!... In a Google Slide, which I will release when it is ready.
However, there is more to introduce!
The team and I have been talking about a potential comic series called Deltarune: Beyond the Darkness [ORANGE], which chronicles the narrative of how the television destroyed the radio star. This will most likely be the first piece of content created for the project that will be completely developed.
Wait, there is more! I must show you all of the recently abandoned ideas.
Mike was supposed to have a partner 'n' crime and a wife, but due to the large number of characters we had already planned, we chose to murder her off in his story. However, I think it's nice to share her design. But we do have her scheduled to appear in Mike's Comic, which is also planned, but the cover has not yet been designed because, like you, we are human.
Here's some discarded Cathode's Tower concept art. They felt dull in comparison to the final concept that was picked, which I will not reveal until the design is complete. I know some of you find this interesting, so the team created a page (LONG AGO) for it on the wiki. We will try to update that page more in the future.
Music - ~1%
God, this will take a long time to show off and explain... We opted to use a mix of songs donated to us as gifts and unused Deltarune music. However, this is likely to alter as time goes on, because who knows what the future holds for our team. Aside from that, full credit for the fantastic Beyond the Darkness OST goes to Oftome and Toby Fox.
First and foremost, we have the Weather Duo's songs, some of which we obtained from Toby Fox's unused tracks and some of which we have permission to use and, in fact, have from a cool dude who you should check out.
We opted to use the unused "Faint Courage" as Deltarune Chapter 3's "Death Screen" song because it sounded too good not to use. However, all credit goes to Toby Fox for all unused tunes in this. Despite the fact that this is a change for Chapters 1-7, we chose to use another unused OST for when you close the Fountains.
Here are Mike's two primary songs: his main theme and the battle theme! However, he presently has five official songs that is used for his domain, the Abandoned TV Studios, and wherever the Rook Clan goes. I hope you enjoy these.

Chapter 4: Dawn of Faith
Deltarune Chapter 4: Dawn of Faith began development in mid-2023 and will be our primary focus for the new year! Please expect a lot to be done for Chapter 4 as we publish these lengthy progress reports that take months to complete.
Writing - ~2%
Please understand that the chapter's writing has only just began. Now you may be asking why so little has been written. Well, that's because the team (mainly myself) chose to take a month off from the internet and then returned to slack off. However, progress is being made slowly but steadily. However, there isn't much to show off in this progress report that I consider important.
Designs - ~15%
There are several things I will include in the progress report for you at home! I wouldn't leave you all hanging like that, would I? Now, let us start showing off some of the items that the team and I agreed to keep until the next time.
Here is a sneak glance at Deltarune Chapter 4's first segment, the Dark Temple. The Dark Temple is designed to resemble a village/city that was once under siege and was all linked by one thing: a temple. However, this is merely a concept fiction that I thought up while writing it.
For a long time, we've hinted at reworking Chapter 4's enemy because he doesn't suit the "standards" and pattern of a Deltarune villain. The top is the previous design, while the bottom is the new design. Now I'd like to introduce the new design... the Bishop of Hope, Bessy. Our goal was to give him a "cool" vibe while also making him feel like a Darkner... What am I even saying now?
Music - ~1%
It's time for the progress report... Tons of great music to listen to both privately and in front of your real-life family and friends.
First, we have the Dark Temple theme, which is an unused deltarune ost called "Checkerboad". However, we thought it would fit the temple because of how dark and mysterious it is, as well as how long the first segment is likely to be.
This is another unused song by Toby Fox. I kind of want this scene to be just Ralsei and Bessy retelling the Delta Rune story from Chapter One. I realize that doesn't seem very imaginative in words, but maybe when we reach to that point in Chapter 4's progression, you'll understand what I mean.
Another unused tune by Toby Fox that I chose to grab and utilize, with proper credit. This song will be played when Bessy and Rouxls team together to fight Kris and whatever else I intend to include in Chapter 4.
