I always kind of imagined Outcasts as our collective masterpiece, but where I'm at now, it's more of a personal success for me. I don't care if it gets a very large following at all (though that wouldn't hurt either), because it's been a part of my journey as a developer, and a part of my childhood.
It hasn't just taught me about making games, but about writing, expanding upon stories, feeling what the characters feel, and being creative and imaginative as a whole.
All that to say, I think success is simply release in the case of this game. It doesn't matter what the numbers are. Once it's complete and shared with the public, I win.
