Zly.ii is a 1st person point&click scifi adventure game, set in a dark orbital station where you have to solve mysterious puzzles to progress. Read diaries, explore the station, take notes on paper, and use your brain to make the link between the clues...
This game can remind of games like the Myst series (including the all new Riven Remake), particularly of Myst III and Myst IV that were made of 360° spherical views.
What are those spherical/panoramic views? The player cannot walk freely with the keyboard arrows like in usual 1st person games, because here the environments are made of prerendered 3d images (static views). It was a technique in the 2000s to obtain quality renders with detailed textures and lighting, which was not possible in 3d game engines at that time. Even though they are just pictures, it is made so that you can still look around freely by moving the mouse, just like you would look around in any 1st person game. It is possible because you are actually in spheres that imitate the position of the player in the station. There are as many spheres as there are scenes to visit in the game, as you can see in one of the pictures attached. Each sphere has interactive hotspots that can be activated with a left mouse click, and that allow to move to the next/previous sphere, read a clue, interact with a puzzle, get an item, or zoom onto a specific object...
A Jam version is available, it is free and it is the full version of Zly.ii. However it contains various issues and has some limitations (no sound effect, small resolution). I am slowly working on a new improved HD version. If you like the Jam version and are interested to know more, dont' forget to follow the game!
