Koppy went through many changes, every look with its own personality!

It all started with a prototype Scratch game in 2022, now we're in 2025 with a Gameboy game on its Beta/Demo phase!

Kangoo Twins (2022)

This was the first ever prototye of Koppy, it had a very different plot, but the concept was pretty much the same.

Koppy started out with red/brown fur since I wanted him to be accurate to actual red kangaroos, while his twin (now redesigned, he will appear in a future entry) is directed to the other types of kangaroos with lighter fur.

Kumper the Kangaroo (2023)

This is the 2nd prototype, the plot was already close to the current one.

Koppy's design is almost exactly the same as the current one, while the sprites on the game still having the brown fur from the palette choosen (which it was the NES palette).

In this you can also play as a rabbit character (will also appear in a future entry), whose name is "Hopring". This character was originally designed by Shrimpy-9941 on scratch! (Image below is their concept of the character)

I really liked his concept, so I ended up adding the character as a playable one in the game.

(People in Scratch really did think that this was jax from tadc 🥀)

Kumper Socks (2024)

Then I changed to the GB Studio engine and began developing Koppy in there!

Koppy actually featured a different pair of socks, instead of the usual green/blue he had white socks with blue stripes (which is actually based on actual real socks i have that I use at home!).

He then would be alternating socks in some artworks, but currently he's wearing just the green socks.

Koppy Kopsocks (2025)

I changed the name from Kumper to Koppy Kopsocks since it was an easely vandalizable name (just like when Pac-Man used to be called Puck-Man).

Koppy already had his design finalized for quite some time now, while the final artstyle just had been set now.

This project has been in a break until october, where the artstyle was pretty much finalized.

And that's it for now! There's MANY MORE concepts I made, but I don't want to spoil too much!

Next up

I put the new feature to the test, and it plays horrendous

So I might only apply this new mechanic to only specific enemies in specific areas or a specific object just for this.

But I'll give another shot at making this play better, otherwise...

VERTICAL LEVEL!

Here you have to go up instead to the sides to complete the level (the jump mechanics work much better in this level format!)

This might or might not replace the existing horizontal (normal) levels.

So I was adding a new screenshot to my game's game page (on the "Design" tab), I deleted one image since I didn't need it there anymore and then after I saved it ALL the images in the page got scrambled or something!

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

A new special update for Koppy Kopsocks is out! Enjoy this new halloween themed level for this holiday!

Development flow is at max speed! I'm confident that I'm finally getting closer at properly finishing working on the Demo!

Name change! Kumper Socks is now Koppy Kopsocks.

This name change was made for a particular reason (the same reason as why Pac-Man didn't stick to Puck-man).

The logo will be updated later.

(The 0.4.0 build with the rebrand is now avaliable!)

Remaking the first level! (Tile set not final)

Some of the feedback I got previously pointed out that the current level design felt too boring/empty, so now I'll remake the existing levels and change some aspects of the overall level design of the game.

Experimenting with something!

Instead of just jumping above enemies and killing them instantly, you simply get above them and you get to pick how you want to use them (jump or jump higher basically)

I will take a while working in this idea though...

Kumper is now back in development!

It's been months since I haven't worked on this game, but now I picked up on this again and actually reworked everything from zero just yesterday. This is the progress so far.

This build is now playable too!

Medals... Stars... All over the place!

Added star collectibles! You can collect 3 of them in each level. (Also updated many screens to include stats on your medals and stars.)
