Eternal Frenemies: Return to Eternity

On tap for today, we have a sample #sprite set for Present!Cocytus that I should have shared long ago lol~ (update in article) #renpy #visualnovel #interactive #rpg #art #OC #eternalfrenemiesproject #art #gamesprite #spriteart

So you already know from the Seraphia sprite post that each character has only one pose with as many expressions as I can allow them. The full game in will have some animated aspects, mainly in the GUI - like the achievement menu screen and dialogue box you see in the demo. The cast of characters, including "secret" ones, is fairly large, so most of the game's size will come from the high-resolution of their image assets and the CGs (I may try to squeeze in more than expected to help the game's story flow).

The soundtrack will probably somewhat limited as well, as audio files can easily get large (gotta remind myself to show pieces of that here as well), so I'll do my best on it (and possibly include guest music).

It is also for this reason that the game won't have full-scale animation. I intend the game to be free, but for browser play instead of a downloadable package (to help prevent theft and vandalism).

I plan to convert everything to the smallest formats that can allow at least 80% of the quality to be saved.

Anyway, I am still aiming to have a minimum of 20-50 demo plays on both GameJolt and ItchIO for the case I plan to make on March 15th to both sites' support staff, so please go ahead and give the demo a play when you get the chance!

IMPORTANT GAME #UPDATE COMIN THROUGH!

May I present the FINAL stats of the Return to Eternity VN game!! My work has paid off in that the final size still sits pretty under a gigabyte, so the game should perform fine on browsers!

More details in article!!

So on tap for today, I want to go over a few simple choice types for the fellow devs that need a refresher as they plan future VNs.

Used correctly, they can make people invest in your VN game more.

Read article for whole breakdown.

Early context?? We're not about that jazz, that's the full game's story to tell.

Anyways, all of the assets for the game are FINALLY done and imported into the game build!

(Details and further info in article, PLEASE READ)

I swear there's a special kind of AAAAAGGGHHHHH when debugging game code and finally discovering solutions to the most annoying problems THE DAY BEFORE RELEASE.....

I'm sick, but I'll keep pushing - I want this game to be published and available for all.

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.

HELLO CLASS!

Today on this lovely #ScreenshotSaturday, we're gonna go over the two different kinds of non-sprite art you will see in the game - backgrounds and CGs (which I abbreviate for "cutscene graphics")!

Read the article for the whole lesson.

The storyboard is technically made up of cutscenes, but a lot of shots were redrawn as CGs for the visual novel game.

This is NOT one of them, but describes a "canon event" for the game.

Read article for more of my usual rambling and subtle encouragement.

To celebrate the game's impending release, we've added The Knightling Pack and The Knightling Community Pack back to the Shop!

On tap for today, we have another in-story CG from the up-and-playable #demo (wink wink) complete with an article full of rambling on the game's development!

Said rambling is in the article, but hopefully you consider enjoying the demo anyway!
